Within NIH’s All of Us Research Program Office, the Division of Engagement and Outreach provides strategic direction for engagement with stakeholders, including potential and current participants; develops, implements, and enhances consortium capacity-building efforts; and evaluates ongoing engagement and retention efforts to refine the All of Us Research Program’s approach and identify new needs. The Division of Engagement and Outreach also works collaboratively with program staff and key stakeholders to ensure optimal bi-directional, user-friendly, culturally sensitive, and impactful engagement in the All of Us Research Program. 

The Chief Engagement Officer encompasses the full range of scientific, technological, and governance expertise to lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of diverse engagement activities for the one million or more participants of the program. This includes assisting in building the vision, capacity, credibility, and international reputation of the program to maximize its impact on the health of Americans. The incumbent assists in ensuring that all aspects of the program satisfy the highest scientific, ethical, and administrative standards. 

This position will be engaged with high-level senior staff responsible for this highly visible, high-priority initiative. Based on the critical and complex issues for the All of Us Research Program, sufficient scientific expertise and leadership are needed to keep abreast of developments and innovations in rapidly advancing and changing disciplines, including the science, data/informatics, participant engagement, and health policy issues associated with the program. As such, the incumbent must bring a record of exceptional accomplishments and vision in one or more key areas related to the All of Us Research Program. These accomplishments should document success in tackling large-scale problems using innovative approaches. The incumbent should possess a proven track record of technical, scientific, and management expertise relevant to the program, and be well known and well respected nationally for the innovations created by their work.

The incumbent must possess unique skills and a broad range of scientific competence for this position, combining the knowledge of participant engagement with participant enrollment and retention, health information technology, and biomedical, behavioral, and environmental research. The incumbent must also be able to deploy this broad and cross-cutting knowledge to ensure the continued development of the scientific and technical vision for the All of Us Research Program. The incumbent must have a Ph.D. or M.D., or equivalent, in biomedical, applied, or natural sciences. 

The successful candidate for this position will be appointed at a salary commensurate with their qualifications and experience, and a full Federal benefits package is available including leave, health and life insurance, retirement, long-term care insurance, and a savings plan (401k equivalent).
