Violeta Seidell will be the incoming Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for the All of Us Research Program upon the retirement of the current ISSO, Kermit Littlefield. In her role, Violeta will be the lead Federal Government representative overseeing the All of Us security program. Violeta will interpret, establish and enforce strict cybersecurity standards to protect All of Us participant data and make it available for researchers to advance scientific breakthroughs while minimizing risk. Violeta ascends to the role of ISSO following two years as the Deputy ISSO for All of Us. Working with the security teams representing the All of Us program and numerous partners, Violeta will ensure risk-appropriate safeguards are established and continuously monitored for the systems comprising the All of Us portfolio.
Prior to NIH, Violeta was a hospitality operations executive with Marriott International. Her 30-year Marriott career spanned various disciplines, from Finance, to Program Management, and finally, to Information Systems. Her most recent role was Vice President, Global Property Systems in the Global Operations Division. In this role, Violeta led the strategic direction for Marriott’s global Property Management Systems and Point of Sale technology platforms, including ensuring responsible cybersecurity practices at over 6,000 Marriott hotels.
Violeta received her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from George Washington University and graduated with honors from the University of Maryland with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Journalism. She occasionally lectures at George Washington University International MBA classes.
Born in Lima, Peru, Violeta has lived most of her life in the United States. She and Mark, her husband of 35 years, live in Potomac, Maryland. Their three adult children, Sophie, Nick and Glenn live on the West Coast. Violeta enjoys traveling, hiking, biking and volunteering, and is always up for a game of pickleball.
