It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the news that I have decided to transition to a new role in the All of Us Research Program of the National Institutes of Health. When a new leader has been selected, I will become the program’s chief innovation officer, driving the strategic and user-centered development of new program features. This will give me the opportunity to continue to bring in new methods and processes for innovation from my 25-year career in Silicon Valley.

The All of Us Research Program, part of the National Institutes of Health, has awarded a combined $9.1 million in initial funding to two organizations to further the program’s extensive community engagement efforts. HCM Strategists, of Washington, D.C., and the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, will develop innovative approaches to educate communities and support enduring relationships with program participants.

WHAT:

The All of Us Research Program at the National Institutes of Health has made strong progress in its efforts to advance precision medicine, according to program leadership in a forthcoming paper in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The All of Us Research Program takes the trust our participants place in us very seriously. The information that participants share is personal, and protecting it is our most important responsibility. Accordingly, we take many steps to safeguard participants’ information with extensive policies, security testing, and oversight. In all aspects of our work, we strive for transparency, respecting our relationships with participants and our other partners.

NIH’s All of Us Research Program has announced the beta release of its interactive Data Browser to provide a first look at the data that participants are sharing for health research. Participants, researchers, and other members of the public may use the online tool to learn more about the All of Us participant community and explore summary data. Later, researchers will be able to request access to the data for use in a wide range of studies that may lead to more customized ways to prevent and treat disease.
